This is an absolute, with a viscous consistency, typical of resin absolutes. It's an excellent fixative in perfumery, it is widely used for incense and aromatherapy.

Used for more than 5000 years as perfume and incense, Olibanum, also known as Franquincense which means pure incense, is an aromatic resin obtained from Boswellia Serrata.
Boswellia Serrta grows in a few areas of the world, between the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, India and southern China. Most of the world's supply of Olibanum comes mainly from Somalia, Yemen and Eritrea, countries with many war conflicts that have negatively affected the production of incense. Considered aspirin, penicillin and Viagra in ancient times, Olibanum has been used as the remedy for everything.
When King Tutankhamun's tomb was opened in 1922, Olibanum ointment was found. In the oldest known medical papyrus, the Ebers Papyrus, there were different references about Olibanum and its uses.

In Egypt and parts of the East, Olibanum is burned to keep snakes and mosquitoes away.

Different soils, microclimates and even times of the year produce crops with different colors and types of Olibanum, with the whitest resin being considered the most valuable.

As a fixative in perfumery, it has the ability to trap the most volatile molecules and anchor the middle notes. It is perfect for fixing ethereal floral aromas and makes a perfect synergy with most citrus fruits. It gives life and body to a perfume and amplifies the aromas, making them dry down in a range of tones that can be smelled as the hours go by.

In the video above you can see the texture of the olibanum. I will send it in a jar container so that I can remove it from the container easily. In a bottle it is very complicated to work with.
