Persian lime essential oil presents as a pale yellow, liquid. Its aroma is intensely fresh, sharp, and uplifting, combining a tart citrus brightness with subtle sweet, fruity undertones. Compared to key lime (Citrus aurantifolia), Persian lime has a slightly less acidic, smoother profile, with a more rounded, mellow citrus note.

The oil is rich in monoterpenes and aldehydes, with limonene being the major constituent. Main components include:

-Limonene (≈ 45–65%) – fresh, citrusy, antioxidant properties
-γ-Terpinene (≈ 10–15%) – sweet, citrusy, cleansing
-β-Pinene (≈ 5–12%) – woody, green, uplifting
-Citral (Neral + Geranial) (≈ 1–4%) – lemony, antimicrobial, flavor enhancer
-Linalool (≈ 1–2%) – floral, calming

Trace compounds: sabinene, terpinolene, citronellal.

Therapeutic & Cosmetic Benefits:

-Aromatherapy: Uplifting, energizing, promotes mental clarity, reduces fatigue.

-Skin Care: Used in tonics, cleansers, and lotions for oily and congested skin; has mild astringent qualities.

-Perfumery: A popular top note in colognes, fougère, citrus accords, and fresh green blends.

-Household & Hygiene Products: Incorporated in natural cleaning sprays, soaps, and deodorizing formulations.

-General: Avoid use on sensitive or broken skin; keep away from eyes; not recommended for infants.
