Kewda is a very interesting and unique aroma, it is obtained by distillation of the flowers, it is a dioecious tree, which has biparental fertilization, with the flower of the male tree being the one that produces fragrance. Widely used in Asia in gastronomy for special events, as an offering to the Hindu goddess Manasa.
The female flowers, when fertilized, become a fruit, which takes two years to develop and mature, and changes its color from yellow, orange and red.
It is a flower that has been distilled for a long time as it is used to make traditional Indian Attars. 100,000 male flowers are needed to produce 1 liter of essential oil. There are writings in San Cristobal explaining the extraction process and the benefits of the Kewda flower.
