Green Tea Seed Carrier Oil (also known as Camellia sinensis seed oil) is a carrier oil extracted by cold-pressing the seeds of the tea bush, the same plant that produces the leaves for green tea. It is an oil traditionally valued in Asia, especially Japan, China, and Korea, both in cosmetics and in ancient medicine.
Main Chemical Composition:
- Oleic acid (omega-9): 70-80% (very emollient).
- Linoleic acid (omega-6): 6-12% (skin barrier repairer).
- Palmitic and stearic acids: 8-10% (softening).
- Vitamin E (tocopherols) and antioxidant polyphenols.
Cosmetic Properties:
1) Powerful antioxidant: Protects against free radical damage and premature aging.
2) Anti-inflammatory: Soothes irritated or sensitive skin.
3) Cell regenerator: Promotes tissue repair, ideal for dry, mature, or damaged skin.
4) Non-comedogenic (index = 1): Suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.
5) Mild natural sunscreen: Due to its polyphenol and catechin content, it helps defend the skin against UV damage (although it is not a substitute for sunscreen).
Common Uses:
-Light facial and body moisturizer.
-Carrier oil for aromatherapy.
-Hair treatments to strengthen and soften hair.
-Nail and cuticle care.
-Formulation of anti-aging creams, serums, and luxury soaps.
General Safety Information: Do not take any oils internally and do not apply undiluted essential oils, onto the skin without advanced essential oil knowledge or consultation from a qualified aromatherapy practitioner. Use extreme caution when using oils with children. Consult a qualified aromatherapy practitioner before using oils with children, the elderly, if you have medical issues or are taking medications.
