Black Raspberry Seed Oil, derived from the tiny seeds of the Rubus occidentalis fruit, is one of the most nutrient-dense and antioxidant-rich botanical oils available today. Belonging to the rose family (Rosaceae), the black raspberry is native to North America and has long been celebrated as a “superfruit.” Its seeds, often discarded in juice and jam production, are in fact a hidden treasure—yielding an oil that is not only luxurious in texture but also incredibly powerful in skin and hair applications. With its rare balance of essential fatty acids, potent antioxidants, and natural UV-protective properties, Black Raspberry Seed Oil is rapidly becoming a coveted ingredient in high-performance, natural, and luxury skincare formulations.

The black raspberry shrub is primarily cultivated in the United States, especially in the Pacific Northwest. The production of Black Raspberry Seed Oil is highly sustainable: the seeds are by-products of the juice and food industries, which means this oil represents a zero-waste, upcycled ingredient. For eco-conscious consumers and brands, it provides a perfect alignment of performance and sustainability.

The comodogenic index is the scale from 0 to 5, with 3 being the limit
for an oil to be non-comodogenic, meaning it does not clog pores. Oils that are on the comodogenic level scale 4 and 5 refer to oils that clog pores, and although they are not recommended for face care products, they are highly recommended for use in formulations for the care of dry, calloused and cracked hands, very dry and cracked feet and heels, very dry lips and eye contours that tend to dryness.

Comodogenic index:
-Comedogenic level 0: it is non-comedogenic and does not cause pore clogging.
-Comedogenic level 1: there is a small (very low) possibility that the ingredient is comedogenic and may clog pores.
-Comedogenic level 2: in most cases, it will not clog pores. The possibility that it may clog pores is moderate to low.
-Comedogenic level 3: they have a medium chance of clogging pores, depending especially on the skin type.
-Comedogenic level 4: the chance of clogging pores, regardless of the skin type, is quite high.
-Comedogenic level 5: they tend, in almost all cases, to clog the skin pores. In fact, very few people tolerate the oils found here.
