Wildcrafted Black Spruce Absolute is a rich and highly aromatic botanical extract created from the needles of Picea mariana, also known as Black Spruce. This precious conifer absolute captures a deeper, more concentrated interpretation of the northern forest than a typical steam-distilled spruce essential oil.
Its aroma is dark green, woody, balsamic, and resinous, with a soft honeyed warmth, subtle fruity facets, and a refined leather-like undertone. It brings the feeling of crushed evergreen needles, forest air, resinous bark, warm conifer balsam, and damp woodland earth.
Black Spruce Absolute is especially valuable in natural perfumery as a grounding middle-to-base note. It adds body, longevity, depth, and a polished coniferous signature to forest accords, leather compositions, woody ambers, incense perfumes, masculine or unisex fragrances, and botanical candles or incense blends.
This material is not sharp like many fresh pine oils. Instead, it is darker, fuller, smoother, more resinous, and more sophisticated—ideal for perfumers seeking a true northern forest character with natural complexity.

Formulation Notes
Black Spruce Absolute pairs beautifully with Frankincense, Royal Hojari, Amber Hojari, Myrrh, Benzoin, Labdanum, Copaiba, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss, Pine, Fir Balsam, Tobacco Absolute, Leather accords, Vanilla CO₂, Tonka, Black Tea CO₂, Rose Absolute, Osmanthus, and citrus oils such as Bergamot, Mandarin, Grapefruit, and Sweet Orange.
For a refined forest perfume, combine it with Frankincense, Cedarwood, Vetiver, and a small amount of Vanilla CO₂ or Benzoin. For a darker leather-conifer profile, pair it with Tobacco Absolute, Labdanum, Oakmoss, and Sandalwood.
Because this is a dense absolute, pre-dilution in perfumer’s alcohol, jojoba, MCT, triethyl citrate, or another suitable perfume carrier may improve handling and dosing precision.
Best For
Natural perfumers, incense makers, forest fragrance compositions, masculine and unisex perfumes, woody amber accords, botanical candles, solid perfumes, resinous grooming products, artisan soapmakers, and ritual aromatic blends.
Traditional & Spiritual Uses
Black Spruce carries the atmosphere of northern forests, evergreen resilience, quiet strength, wilderness, and winter stillness. Its aroma is especially beautiful in grounding rituals, meditation spaces, forest-inspired incense, seasonal fragrance collections, and personal scent rituals connected with nature and renewal.
Important Aroma Note
This is a natural solvent-extracted absolute, not a fresh Black Spruce essential oil. It has a darker, denser, more resinous, and more balsamic profile than a distilled spruce oil.
Natural variation is expected. Aroma, color, viscosity, and solubility may vary according to harvest conditions, needle quality, extraction parameters, and batch age.
