Bakuchi Seed Carrier Oil is a distinctive botanical oil obtained from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia, traditionally known as Bakuchi, Babchi or Bakuchiol Plant. The currently accepted botanical name is Cullen corylifolium, while Psoralea corylifolia remains its widely recognized synonym.

This specialty seed oil contains a naturally complex mixture of lipids and plant constituents. Reported fatty acids include oleic, linoleic, linolenic, palmitic, stearic, behenic and lignoceric acids, although the precise composition may vary according to origin, harvest and extraction method.

Suitable for experienced cosmetic formulators, Bakuchi Seed Oil may be incorporated into facial oils, body oils, balms, soaps, scalp preparations and other specialized anhydrous formulations.

Important Product Distinction

Bakuchi Seed Oil is not the same ingredient as purified Bakuchiol 99%. Bakuchiol is an individual meroterpene that can be isolated from Psoralea corylifolia, while the whole seed oil contains a broader and naturally variable mixture of fatty acids and phytochemical constituents.

Products should not be marketed with a specific bakuchiol concentration unless that concentration has been confirmed through batch-specific laboratory analysis.

Formulation and Safety Information

Psoralea corylifolia seeds may naturally contain furanocoumarins, including psoralen and isopsoralen. These compounds can produce photosensitivity when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light.
