Osmanthus Absolute is a rare and luxurious aromatic extract obtained from the highly fragrant flowers of Osmanthus fragrans, also known as Sweet Osmanthus, Fragrant Olive or Tea Olive. The accepted botanical spelling is Osmanthus fragrans. Kew lists Osmanthus fragrans Lour. as an accepted species in the Oleaceae family, native from the Himalayas to southern Japan and Indo-China.

Prized in fine perfumery, Osmanthus Absolute offers an exceptionally elegant aroma: sweet floral, apricot-like, peachy, honeyed, tea-like, leathery and subtly animalic. Its fruity-floral character is associated with aromatic compounds such as ionones, lactones, linalool and other aroma-active constituents naturally found in osmanthus flowers.

Important Aroma Note

Osmanthus Absolute is not a simple sweet floral material. Its natural aroma is complex and may include fruity apricot-peach notes, honeyed floral facets, tea-like nuances, and soft leather or suede undertones.

This leathery-fruity floral character is part of the natural beauty and uniqueness of Osmanthus Absolute and makes it highly valued in fine perfumery.
