Formulation & Usage
Suitable for use in oil-based skincare and haircare formulations.
Does it smell like tomatoes?
Not necessarily. Tomato seed oil comes from the seeds, and its aroma should not be confused with the smell of fresh tomato fruit. White copal may be the more noticeable aromatic element, depending on the formula.
Can I use it on my face?
It is intended for cosmetic use on the skin. Start with a patch test and a small amount, particularly if your skin is reactive.
Can I use it on my hair every day?
Yes, if daily use suits your hair. Begin with one drop on the ends and adjust based on how your hair feels and looks.
Can I use it as a formulation ingredient?
Yes, in a compatible cosmetic formula. Evaluate the full formulation for stability, safety, labeling, and intended use before selling it.
Is it an essential oil?
No. This is an oil blend featuring tomato seed oil and a white copal ingredient. The exact type of copal ingredient should match your production formula.
Applications:
1. Daily facial oil
Cleanse your face and apply your usual water-based serum or moisturizer. Place 1–3 drops in your palms, warm the oil gently between your hands, and press it over the face and neck. Begin with one drop if you have combination skin or prefer a lighter finish. Add another drop only to areas that still feel dry.
2. Evening facial massage
Apply a few drops to clean skin with enough slip for your fingertips to glide comfortably. Massage gently across the cheeks, forehead, jawline, and neck, avoiding the eye area. Wipe away any excess if you prefer a lighter finish before bed.
3. After-shower body oil
Apply to clean skin while it is still slightly damp. Massage over the arms and legs, then focus on elbows, knees, and other dry-feeling spots. Start with a small amount and allow it to absorb before dressing.
4. Hand and cuticle treatment
Massage a drop or two over the backs of your hands and around the cuticles. Use after handwashing or before bed when the skin feels dry.
5. Hair finishing oil
Rub 1–2 drops between your palms and lightly smooth them over the mid-lengths and ends of dry or damp hair. Keep the application away from the roots if your hair becomes oily easily. For fine hair, start with just one drop distributed across both hands.
6. Pre-shampoo treatment for lengths and ends
Apply a modest amount to dry hair, concentrating on the lower half and ends. Leave it in for approximately 20–30 minutes, then shampoo thoroughly. Increase or decrease the amount based on how readily your hair absorbs oils.
7. Scalp massage
If your scalp tolerates botanical oils, part the hair and apply a few drops to small areas. Massage gently with your fingertips, then shampoo out. Patch test first and avoid use on irritated or broken skin.
8. Blend into an unscented lotion
For immediate personal use, mix 1–2 drops with a portion of unscented body lotion in your palm and apply. Do not add oil directly to the lotion container without evaluating the finished product’s stability and preservation.
9. Create an oil-based formula
Test the blend in a facial oil, body oil, hair serum, or balm. Start with a small trial batch and assess scent, skin feel, color, clarity, and stability. If your formula contains water, it will need an appropriate preservation system and additional testing.
- Patch test the finished formulation.
- For external use only; do not ingest.
