Eriocephalus Punctulatus, endemic to South Africa, from the Western Cape and Northern Cape areas, hence its name Cape Chamomile. It is recognized as one of the 4 Chamomiles.
It has an incredible blue color, due to azulenic compounds, which are formed by pro-azulene compounds due to distillation. It also contains different types of davanones, which gives it its fruity aroma.
It is one of the most calming oils I have found, soothing for the skin, calming for the nerves and helps with falling asleep.
In traditional medicine it is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disorders, and skin disorders, since it is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-allergic, antimicrobial, and antioxidant. In addition to having important antidepressant properties, since it is capable of sedating, promoting positive emotions and well-being. It is an ideal oil to use in aromatherapy sections when dealing with people who are visibly upset or with negative emotions.
For skin care it has different uses, like all oils that contain Chamazulene, this gives it multiple properties to treat various skin disorders such as acne, irritations, redness, dryness, insect bites, scaling, cracked skin, rashes, burns, eczema, etc. .
It has interesting anti-allergic properties, since it helps balance allergic reactions and manages to create a balance in the body so that it responds less aggressively to possible allergens.
