Erigeron essential oil is primarily extracted from the Erigeron canadensis plant, also known as Canadian horsetail, fleabane, or horseweed. Although not one of the most commercially known essential oils, it has a history of use in traditional North American medicine and some niche aromatherapy and natural cosmetics.

Properties:

- Astringent: Helps contract tissues and reduce bleeding, useful for wounds and hemorrhoids.

- Hemostatic: Traditionally used to control minor internal bleeding, such as menorrhagia or gastrointestinal bleeding (internal use only under professional supervision).

- Anti-inflammatory: Reduces inflammation in muscles, joints, and skin tissues.

- Antiseptic: Disinfects minor wounds and cuts.

- Diuretic: Stimulates the elimination of retained fluids.

- Stomachic and carminative: Helps calm digestive spasms and relieve gas.

-Mild expectorant: Useful in cases of respiratory congestion.

Although historically used internally in tinctures, the essential oil should not be ingested without strict medical supervision.

Cosmetic (skincare) properties:

-Astringent and toning: Ideal for oily skin, enlarged pores, or acne-prone skin.

-Anti-acne: Due to its antiseptic and sebum-regulating effect.

-Decongestant: Can relieve mild facial swelling (e.g., bags under the eyes, although with great caution due to its potency).

-Wound healing: Can help repair minor wounds, although this is not its primary use.
