The Gallica rose is the oldest known rose, it is native to the central and southern area of Europe. This rose is said to have been in the hanging gardens of Babylon.
There is evidence of its use for centuries. References have been found in writings from the 18th century, where it was used to cure different stomach disorders, for ulcers with suppurations, hemorrhage, vomiting, cholera, thrush, etc.


It was called Aphotecary rose, due to its uses in the European pharmacopoeia.
It has been used to eat, in teas, for skin ointments, to make beauty tonics, rose honey is made, due to its aroma it was used in ancient times to create perfumes.
