Guava (Psidium Guajava) is a tropical fruit, native to America, whose cultivation and consumption has spread to countries around the world, from India or China to the warmer regions of Europe. It comes from the guava, a shrub from which not only the fruit is used, but also its leaves for its multiple properties.
On its angular and velvety branches the rigid and aromatic leaves are paired with perfect symmetry. Numerous small glands are discovered on the surface of the blades, like tiny diamonds embedded in sea green.

The leaves are characterized by the presence of an essential oil rich in caryophyllene, nerolidiol, beta bisabolene, aromandrene, p-selinene.
They also contain beta sitosterol, titerpenoids, leucocyanidins and around 10% tannins. They have recognized medicinal properties, act on the digestive system and are widely used as an antidiarrheal. For this purpose, the healthy leaves should be collected early in the morning and preferably used fresh as a decoction. The decoction or infusion of the leaves is also used for its antibiotic properties.

Guava leaf essential oil for health is really important, in particular because of its richness in quercetin, an antioxidant that has the ability to block the enzymes responsible for the construction of sorbitol, the sugar that forms the clumps and white clouds of the cataracts, a degenerative eye disease characteristic of the elderly. Due to its vitamin A content, it is known as a booster for general eye health. It can help slow the occurrence of cataracts, macular degeneration, and even improve vision once it has started to break down. Due to its high content of vitamin C, guava is very useful for relieving coughs and colds, disinfecting the respiratory tract, throat and lungs, and inhibiting microbial activity with its astringent properties. Helps reduce blood cholesterol and prevents its thickening, thereby maintaining blood flow and reducing blood pressure. In addition, it contains vitamins B3 and B6. Vitamin B3 (also known as niacin) can increase blood flow and boost cognitive function. Vitamin B6 is a great nutrient for nerve and brain function. Excellent for strengthening the body's defenses as it stimulates the production of white blood cells.
