Aromatic Profile

A dark, elegant frankincense base where warm resin, honeyed sweetness and amber depth are lifted by a restrained citrus facet.

Blending Direction

  • Pairs with bergamot, lemon, orange and grapefruit for resin-citrus structures.
  • Supports myrrh, opopanax, labdanum, benzoin and other incense materials.
  • Builds warm bases with cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, spices and amber accords.

Formulation & Usage

Published Boswellia neglecta oils show meaningful compositional variation, including α-thujene/α-pinene-rich profiles and other ester/diterpene-rich samples. The current batch GC-MS—not a generic species profile—must guide formulation.

Required Verification

  • Obtain the current COA, SDS, GC-MS, allergen declaration and IFRA certificate.
  • Verify species identity, Kenyan origin, resin grade, oxidation status and absence of undeclared dilution.
  • Document wild-harvest, sustainability, cooperative and community-benefit claims with batch-linked chain of custody.

Formulation

  • Evaluate at low trial levels for balance in resin, amber and citrus structures.
  • Set use level by the current lot and finished-product category.
  • Boswellic acids are non-volatile resin constituents and are generally not meaningfully represented in distilled essential oil; do not use resin-extract pharmacology as an oil claim.

Applications

Perfumery

For dark resin bases, warm ambers, honeyed incense and sophisticated citrus-resin accords.

Incense & Aromatic Products

For rich, meditative and ceremonial-inspired fragrance concepts without spiritual or medical efficacy claims.

Product Development

A distinctive East African frankincense material whose sourcing story should be presented only with current traceability evidence.

Safety

  • For external use only; do not ingest or apply undiluted.
  • Use the current SDS, GC-MS, allergen declaration and IFRA certificate; Boswellia species and lots are not chemically interchangeable.
  • Patch test the finished formulation and avoid eyes, mucosa and damaged skin.
  • Do not attribute boswellic-acid or resin-extract therapeutic effects to the distilled essential oil.
  • Verify all wild-harvest, sustainability and cooperative claims before publication.
  • Seek qualified advice for pregnancy, children, elderly users, allergies, medical conditions or medication; store tightly closed away from heat, light and oxygen.
