Myrrh is one of the oldest resins known and most versatile in its use. Records dating back more than 2,800 years have been found in ancient Egypt. It is a resin that is collected from the Commiphora Myrrha tree. The resin has a high content of essential oils, gum resins composed of comiphoric acid, and other volatile substances.

It was highly valued in Antiquity, since it was one of the components for the production of perfumes, incense, ointments, medicines and to dilute ink on papyrus. It was also used to embalm the dead.

Known properties:

-Relief of hemorrhoid pain: Use as an ointment.
-Relief in periodontal disorders: Mira extracts are very effective in improving dental hygiene, and gum inflammation processes in diseases such as gingivitis, since it reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines. Very effective in relieving canker sores, mouth sores and tongue inflammation. Relieves the pain of dental extractions.
-Relief of tonsillitis, laryngitis and pharyngitis: Used as a rinse or gargle.
-Relief from skin conditions such as: eczema, pressure ulcers, boils, acne, broken and cracked skin, relief from insect bites, relief from minor burns and scalds and bruises.
-Regulates hair sebum, helping to control dandruff and hair loss.
-Analgesic properties. It contains squiterpenes that act on the nervous system, calming pain and inflammation.
-Expectorant, febrifuge and antispasmodic properties.
-Astringent, healing properties that promote the healing of sores, wounds and ulcers.
-Emenagogue properties: They promote the menstrual period.
