  • Pairs with citrus, rose, lavender, aromatic herbs and woods.
  • Adds vivid green lift to floral, chypre, fougère and incense concepts.
  • Dose carefully: the source describes a highly concentrated and tenacious material.

Formulation & Usage

Geranium extracts commonly contain varying proportions of citronellol, geraniol, menthone/isomenthone and other volatiles. Published work also shows that an absolute differs from the distilled essential oil and changes with leaf maturity. None of those profiles should be assigned to this product without its own analysis.

Required Verification

  • Confirm whether the material is a solvent absolute, a CO₂ extract or another aromatic preparation.
  • Obtain a current GC–MS or appropriate extract profile, COA, SDS and allergen statement.
  • Calculate use levels from the actual constituents and intended category.
  • Test color, solubility, staining, odor strength and stability in the finished product.

Applications

Fine Perfumery

Useful in green floral, chypre, fougère, masculine and experimental botanical accords.

Incense & Home Fragrance

Can add a tenacious leafy-floral accent after compatibility and emission requirements are assessed.

Aromatherapy Products

Suitable only for non-ingestible aromatic use at a professionally assessed level and without medical claims.

Safety

  • Concentrated aromatic extract; do not ingest or apply undiluted.
  • Confirm the extraction type and use the exact batch composition for safety calculations.
  • The source advises avoiding use during pregnancy, with infants, older adults and epilepsy; obtain qualified assessment rather than relying on a generic warning alone.
  • Possible skin irritation; patch test the finished, properly diluted formula.
  • Use light-protective packaging and monitor color and oxidation.
  • Keep COA, SDS, allergen and regulatory documentation on file.
