Bulgarian White Rose Absolute is an exceptionally elegant aromatic extract obtained from the delicate blossoms of Rosa alba, the historic White Rose cultivated in Bulgaria. Compared with the richer, deeper character of traditional Damask Rose, White Rose Absolute offers a softer and more ethereal floral profile with fresh green facets, subtle honeyed sweetness, gentle waxy nuances, and a refined petal-like finish.
Its aroma is graceful rather than overpowering, making it especially valuable in sophisticated natural perfumery where a smooth, luminous rose note is desired. The absolute blends beautifully with woods, resins, florals, citrus materials, musks, spices, and other precious botanical extracts.
Because Rosa alba is cultivated in much smaller quantities than Rosa damascena, White Rose aromatic materials are considerably less common and are prized for their distinctive character and rarity.
Botanical Name: Rosa Alba
Family Name: Rosaceae.
Common Name: White Rose.
INCI: WRosa alba {White Rose} flower Absolute.
Extraction Method: Solvent Extraction.
Parts Used: Flowers.
Note: Middle note.
Odor: The opening is fresh and gently green, followed by a smooth floral heart reminiscent of freshly opened white rose petals. Subtle honeyed and waxy undertones provide warmth and depth without the heavier richness often associated with darker rose varieties.
Appearance: Liquid.
Country of Origin: Bulgaria.
Aroma Comparison
Compared with Rosa damascena, Rosa alba generally presents a softer and more delicate aromatic impression.
Rosa damascena:
Rich • Deep • Sweet • Spicy • Classic rose
Rosa alba:
Soft • Airy • Fresh • Green • Honeyed • Refined
This makes Rosa alba particularly useful when a rose note is desired without overpowering the surrounding composition.
Formulation Notes
White Rose Absolute is highly concentrated and is often easier to work with after dilution.
For perfumery development, a 10% dilution in ethanol, TEC, DPG, or another appropriate perfume solvent can simplify evaluation and formulation.
The aroma may appear restrained when smelled directly from the bottle. After dilution, its finer floral, honeyed, and green facets become significantly more apparent.
Important Aroma Note
This is a natural absolute, not a standardized synthetic rose fragrance.
Natural rose absolutes contain many aromatic constituents that interact to create a complex scent profile that cannot be judged accurately by smelling the concentrated material directly.
For best evaluation, dilute before olfactory assessment.
Traditional & Cultural Significance
White roses have historically been associated with purity, refinement, devotion, tranquility, and ceremonial beauty.
Rosa alba also has a long history of cultivation in Europe and is especially associated with traditional European rose growing and perfumery.
